Here at Todd Rogers Dental, we know that taking great care of your gums is a pivotal step in making sure that your overall oral health is at its best. The soft tissues of your mouth are just as important as your teeth. They provide support and structure to your mouth. They are also a great spot for bacteria to collect and for disease and infection to reign. Taking good care of them is essential. We use the latest technology here to make sure that you look and feel your best. One of the devices that we can use works wonders on your gums and is called a Picasso Laser.

    What Is A Picasso Laser?

Picasso and Picasso Lite Lasers are a state of the art way to safely and effectively provide proper care for damaged, diseased, or otherwise unhealthy gums and soft tissues. When treating soft tissues of the mouth, often a scalpel and electro-surge device are used. This is a great (and affordable) replacement option which results in less trauma and bleeding in the area that needs treatment. This makes treatments safer and healing easier and more rapid.

What Does The Picasso Laser Involve?

Our patients can expect a safer experience as we can use this system to improve their procedures. Scalpels can cause necrosis in the tissues when used or if the incisions heal improperly. This laser reduces that risk significantly and reduces the risk of tearing, trauma in the area, and bleeding. All of these traditional methods can cause your healing process to take longer, as well as meaning that there is more pain involved. This laser is a great asset to enhance your dental experience.

For more information on the Picasso Laser, give us a call here at Todd Rogers Dental. We would love to answer any potential questions you may have and to explain more about the device. Youris incredibly important, and this helps us to improve it without some of the risks that traditional methods may use. You are safer, happier, and healthier in no time. This versatile tool works wonders!

    Cone Beam CT Machine

Here at Todd Rogers Dental, we want you to have the best in diagnostic treatment, whatever your oral ailment could be. In some cases, traditional x-rays or dental scans simply will not do the trick. We use the most cutting-edge technology to make sure that we can always help find a solution to your dilemma. This includes a Cone Beam CT machine, which helps us to find (and to resolve) problems with your teeth.

What Is The Cone Beam CT Machine?

Dental and facial x-rays are commonly used and do a great job helping us find and identify problems within your teeth. However, it is not always enough to get us all the way to the source of the problem. A Cone Beam CT machine allows us to not only see within your teeth but to produce a full 3D computerized structure of your face. This includes teeth, sinus pathways, nerves, and soft tissues as well, which can’t be achieved another way. The best part? It only takes a single scan to get all the information we need to diagnose a problem. From there, we can continue using the information that we gathered to develop a treatment plan.

What Is The Cone Beam CT Machine Used For?

This is usually a diagnostic tool. We can use it to map out your oral features to find a problem and find the right solution for your individual needs. We can use this scan to plan for, whether that is impacted teeth or an issue with your, or TMJ. It is also a great option for surgery along with orthodontic procedures that may require surgery as well. We can use a Cone Beam CT Machine to find loosened or displaced or to simply ensure that they have healed and taken hold correctly.

Another great use is finding tumors in the jaw or sinuses we may not otherwise be able to see. We also often use it as a way to find and diagnose painful areas in your mouth and face that we cannot diagnose another way. Finally, we can just perform a general evaluation this way, including your sinuses, nasal cavities, and nerve canals, which we cannot easily see another way.

What Does The Cone Beam CT Machine Involve?

You will be happy to hear that there is no preparation for this scan. You may be asked to wear a gown, so wear loose-fitting or comfortable clothing just in case, and we advise you to leave your jewelry at home. Be sure to let us know if you are pregnant!

If you have an upcoming procedure and want to know if a Cone Beam CT scan can help you, give Todd Rogers Dental a call today. We would be more than happy to explain how it all works and what such a scan could do for you. Set up a diagnostic appointment today and you will sure to feel comfortable with our friendly and knowledgeable staff.

    Oral DNA Testing

Todd Rogers Dental understands the importance of your gum health and is proud to offer different methods of predicting, preventing, diagnosing, and treating periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is particularly dangerous as it can cause complications outside of your mouth as well as within, from diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and even some forms of cancer. It is important to be diligent in your gum protection. Our office offers a somewhat unique option called Oral DNA Testing that can help us diagnose and treat your gum disease.

    What Is Oral DNA Testing?

Oral disease is caused by 13 strains of bacteria (among over 600 strains that exist there) that thrive in the human mouth. These bacteria tend to be opportunistic. This means that when a person is under heavy stress or their full-body health is struggling; the bacteria can pounce at the chance to cause further harm. Sometimes, this reaction is catalyzed by a preexisting condition that causes your body harm. This can include asthma, diabetes, acute infections, stress, and hormone imbalances.

Gum disease can be sneaky. It often goes without symptoms for a significant period, sometimes years, and up until somewhat recently, we could only treat once these symptoms came to light. However, oral DNA testing allows us to be proactive. DNA-PCR allows us to have definitive methods of identifying the disease before it becomes a problem that affects your whole mouth (or worse, the rest of your body) and begin treatment sooner. This gives us the ability to nip the problem in the bud and act when the treatment is the most effective. It allows us to identify which strains of bacteria may be present in your individual case and protect against them turning on you.

How Does Oral DNA Testing Work?

This test is very quick and completely painless. It is as simple as a cheek swab or spitting in a cup to get DNA to send for testing. From there, all the work is on us. We will prepare your saliva into a vial which we will then send to a laboratory. There, an extremely thorough analysis is performed where we can isolate the bacterial strands. Within a week, a detailed report is sent to our office where we can see which potentially harmful bacterium are present. We can use this information to keep you informed and begin treatment before you can suffer any ill effects.

Finding periodontal disease and taking care of it early can mean the difference between retained teeth and bone and the loss thereof, let alone the potentially harmful effects on your heart or brain. Todd Rogers Dental wants you looking and feeling your best. We are here to make sure that your whole smile is healthy, not specifically your teeth. For more information on how the oral DNA testing works or how it can be useful for you, give us a call and set up an appointment today, (719) 357-4425.
